Sensofar supports 360 CARLA
Connecting emerging talent with the photonics industry
Sensofar is contributing to the European 360 CARLA project, an initiative coordinated by ICFO (The Institute of Photonic Sciences) that promotes career development pathways in the photonics ecosystem and connects emerging talent with real industrial applications.
Funded by the European Union and running for 2.5 years, the 360 CARLA initiative builds upon the achievements of the previous CARLA program. Its mission is to develop structured career pathways focused on four key photonics verticals:
Health: Biotech and Medical Photonics
Quantum Technologies and Communications
Energy, Environment, and Sustainability
Manufacturing and Industry 4.0
Through these vertical programs, participants gain a comprehensive view of how photonics technologies enable innovation across different sectors.
Each career development program combines symposia, training sessions, mentorship opportunities, and hands-on experiences. Participants will visit companies, academic institutions, and research centers, allowing them to explore real-world applications while expanding their professional networks.
Designed for university students and early-stage researchers, the program supports participants in translating their expertise into tangible career opportunities within the photonics ecosystem.
Manufacturing industry 4.0: A day at Sensofar
This immersive experience highlights the role of metrology and Sensofar in advanced manufacturing processes and reinforces the connection between research, innovation, and industrial application.
As part of the Manufacturing Industry 4.0 vertical, participants will spend a full day at Sensofar, engaging directly with the company’s R&D and sales teams.

The experience includes a guided tour of Sensofar’s research laboratory and demonstration center, where attendees will interact with advanced 3D optical surface measurement systems. Participants will also take part in an experimental session focused on algorithm development for 3D microscopy, gaining practical insight into how optical metrology supports smart manufacturing and precision engineering.
Preparing future experts in optical metrology
The 360 CARLA programs respond to the growing need within the photonics sector to attract diverse talent capable of sustaining long-term growth.
Through its participation, Sensofar reaffirms its commitment to advancing photonics education, fostering industry-academia collaboration, and supporting the next generation of optical metrology professionals.
